Freight Fleet Owners Guide to Trailer Maintenance

by Maintenance, Axle repair, Trailer tires, Cargo control 04 Apr 2025

Hello there, fellow road warriors! Whether you're new to the game or a grizzled veteran with a fleet of trailers under your belt, it’s essential to keep those bad boys running smoother than a greased-up pig at a county fair. Hitch a ride with me on this maintenance journey that promises not just to keep your trailers in top shape but also to throw in a chuckle or two.

The Wonders of Grease

Let's face it, without grease, your trailer is about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. Ensuring that those trailer parts are well-lubricated will not only prolong their life but also prevent you from performing an accidental rendition of Swan Lake when axle parts grind to a halt.

  • 1.99" EZ Lube Dust Grease Cap RTK: This nifty little product will make greasing those fittings as easy as pie (and a lot less messy). Check it out here.

Keeping That Spare Tire Secure

Spare tires are like insurance policies: you hope you never have to use them, but you darn well better have them. Nothing screams “rookie mistake” quite like a missing spare when you're in the middle of nowhere.

  • E Track Spare Tire Holder Mount: Keep your spare tire secure with this mount as sturdy as your grandmother's fruitcake. Trust me, you won't regret it. Discover more here.

Nuts and Bolts of Fleet Maintenance

What would maintenance be without a mention of nuts and bolts? It’s like peanut butter without jelly. Stay prepared for any U-bolt situation with a solid set of flange nuts.

  • Dexter Flange Nut (9/16") for 8K U-Bolt: Essential for serious fleet owners, keeping those nuts tight can spare you some incredibly awkward situations on the road. Secure your assets here.

Screws That Mean Business

At the core of trailer durability are quality screws. Stripping and damaging them is not an option if you want that trailer to last as long as your favorite pair of jeans.

  • Self Drilling Screws - Metal to Metal - #14 - 2 Inch: Designed to make metal look like butter. Well, not really, but you get the point. Find them here.

What is Lorem Ipsum? Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum. Why do we use it? It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using 'Content here, content here', making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for 'lorem ipsum' will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
