The BC-DC-05 is a smart 3-stage 12V 5-amp panel-mount battery charger and maintainer designed for permanent installation inside dump trailer toolboxes and hydraulic pump housings. Includes a panel-mount shore power inlet that passes through the trailer wall — plug in any standard 110V extension cord from the outside and the charger maintains your battery automatically.

Used as a direct replacement for factory chargers on Big Tex, PJ Trailers, Texas Pride, Load Trail, and many other dump trailer brands.

🔍 How It Works

The BC-DC-05 mounts permanently inside your dump trailer toolbox or hydraulic pump enclosure. The shore power inlet mounts through a 1-3/4" hole in the trailer wall — the weatherproof flip cover keeps elements out. To charge, simply lift the cover and plug in any standard 3-prong extension cord. The charger does the rest automatically.

3-Stage Charging Process

Stage 1 — Constant Current (Bulk Charge): When battery voltage is below the set point, the charger delivers maximum 5A output to quickly restore charge. This is the fast-charge phase.

Stage 2 — Constant Voltage (Absorption): As the battery nears full charge, the charger holds voltage constant and tapers current automatically to prevent overheating.

Stage 3 — Float (Maintenance): Once fully charged, the charger drops to 13.5V float mode at 0.1–0.3A — enough to offset self-discharge and keep the battery at 100% indefinitely without overcharging.

✔ Push-Button Battery & Alternator Condition Tester

The built-in LED bar graph tester shows battery condition (Poor / Fair / Good) and alternator condition (Fair / Good) at the push of a button. Test your battery without tools — disconnect AC power, push the button, read the result. To test alternator condition, engine must be running at 2,000 RPM with lights and accessories off.

✔ Panel-Mount Shore Power Inlet

Creates a permanent, weatherproof charging access point on the outside of your trailer. Flip up the cover, plug in an extension cord, walk away. No opening the toolbox, no lifting the hood — just plug and charge.

✔ Automatic Shutoff — Can't Overcharge

The switch-mode circuit cuts charge current automatically when the battery is full and drops to float mode. Safe to leave plugged in indefinitely when the trailer is parked between jobs.

✔ Self-Resetting Circuit Breaker

LED-indicated circuit breaker protects the charger and wiring from shorts. Self-resets — no fuses to replace.

✔ Direct Replacement for Factory Units

Interchangeable with DLH and Brightway factory chargers. Compatible with Big Tex, PJ Trailers, Texas Pride, Load Trail, and many other brands' OEM installations.
