Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery before servicing the power unit.
- Remove the two flange bolts and slide the old motor off the pump coupler.
- Check the spline coupler for wear — a chewed-up coupler will kill the new motor.
- Seat the new motor's spline in the coupler, torque the flange bolts, reconnect power (stud nuts to 3 ft-lbs — hold the lower nut), and test through a full raise/lower cycle.

Diagnosis before you replace the motor
From the KTI troubleshooting guide — most “dead motor” symptoms are electrical, not the motor:
- Motor not running → check voltage at the start solenoid while pressing the remote button, then check power at the motor studs.
- Clicking but no crank → usually voltage drop: verify battery charge and cable gauge (table below).
- Runs weak / stalls under load → load-test the battery first; a tired battery mimics a tired motor.
- Terminal stud nuts torque to 3 ft-lbs — hold the lower nut while torquing so the stud doesn’t spin.
