Installation quick-reference (double-acting: power up / power down)
Hose routing: port “A” (top) → base of the cylinder; port “B” (bottom) → rod end.
- Hydraulic fittings: 9/16-18 SAE ORB (SAE #6) into ports — torque to 18 ft-lbs.
- Mount with two 3/8-16 × 3/4" bolts; the flange must sit flush — don’t force alignment with the bolts.
- Battery terminal nuts: hold the bottom nut, torque the top nut to 3 ft-lbs.
- Fill the reservoir to ~1" from the top before first run; keep it above ½ during break-in.
Battery cable sizing (increase gauge as cable length grows — undersized cable = voltage drop, high amps, damaged components):

Hydraulic fluid
KTI fluid recommendation: premium hydraulic oil with anti-wear, rust/oxidation and foam inhibitors — e.g. Chevron Rando HDZ, Mobil DTE 10/20 series, AMSOIL, Shell Tellus. Automotive ATF is acceptable under normal conditions. Do not use biodegradable hydraulic fluid, and do not mix oils.

First-run bleed cycle
Bleed cycle (purge air) in 3 steps:
- Remove the breather cap so you can watch the fluid level. Verify fluid connections are tight. Never let the level fall below half while running.
- Run the unit to extend the cylinder, keeping the level above half tank.
- At full extension, run 5–10 seconds more (bleeding over the relief valve), re-check level, retract, and repeat until operation is smooth.
Double-acting units: repeat for both power-up and power-down. If fluid foams, wait ~10 minutes before continuing. Recharge the battery afterward.
