The LSV2-08-4CO is the directional control cartridge that handles the power-up (extend) circuit on all KTI double-acting hydraulic power units. It's a 4-way, 2-position spool-type solenoid valve — shifting the oil flow path between "rest" and "extend" states when the round coil is energized. Typically used with the LC2-08-C-5B cylindrical/round coil on the up circuit.

Failed LSV2 symptoms include: pump runs but cylinder won't extend, weak/slow up-stroke, erratic cylinder motion under load, or internal bypass heat buildup. When combined with a leaky LSPC load-holding valve (the common second failure), you'll see both bed drift and slow extend — call out for a full rebuild pair.

The LSV2-08-4CO uses a shifting spool with two operating positions:

• De-energized (normal/rest): Oil flows freely from port 3 → port 2 (or 2 → 3) and port 4 → port 1 (or 1 → 4). Cylinder is isolated, fluid circulates at low pressure.
• Energized (extend): The spool shifts — oil now flows from port 3 → 4 and 2 → 1. This directs pressurized fluid into the cylinder bore, extending the rod and lifting the bed.

Works in tandem with the LSPC-080-4-00 load-holding valve — the two valves together define the behavior of every double-acting KTI pump circuit.

💡 Pro Tips — Installation

• Inspect the manifold cavity for burrs or metal shavings before installing the new cartridge. Contamination is the #1 cause of valve failure.
• Lubricate all O-rings and back-up rings with clean hydraulic fluid before seating the valve. A dry O-ring will shear during install.
• Hand-tighten first, then torque with a 7/8" deep socket to 18 ft-lb maximum.
• Do not use a standard socket — use a deep socket to fully engage the cartridge body hex flats without slipping.
• After install, cycle the system multiple times without load to verify smooth shifting and confirm no bypass leaks.

❓ FAQ

My pump runs but the bed won't extend — is this the part?
Very likely. When a directional (LSV2) fails internally, the pump still runs and builds pressure, but the oil can't reach the cylinder bore. Classic symptom.

Should I replace this or the LSPC first?
Diagnose the symptom: bed won't GO UP → LSV2 is primary suspect. Bed DRIFTS DOWN → LSPC is primary suspect. Both failing at once is common if the oil was contaminated.

Do I need a new coil?
Usually no. If the old round coil (LC2-08-C-5B) still energizes when powered, reuse it. Replace only if visibly damaged, melted, or showing an open circuit.

Will this fit my power-up / gravity-down pump?
