KTI LSPC-080-4-00-M Load Holding Valve with Manual Override — Emergency Bed-Down Release for Dead-Battery Conditions — Double-Acting Dump Trailer Hydraulic Power Units
The LSPC-080-4-00-M is the upgraded version of KTI's standard load-holding cartridge valve — adding a manual override screw to the cartridge body. Turn the override screw with a wrench and you can gravity-drop the dump bed even with a completely dead battery or failed solenoid. It's cheap insurance for anyone who relies on their dump trailer for work and can't afford to be stuck with a loaded bed up.
Functionally identical to the standard LSPC-080-4-00 cartridge for everyday operation. The only difference is the field-accessible override — invisible during normal use, lifesaver when you need it.
🔧 What the Manual Override Adds
During normal operation, the valve behaves exactly like the standard LSPC-080-4-00 — powered solenoid opens the pilot, cylinder lowers under control. The manual override screw gives you an additional mechanical path to open the valve without electrical power:
- Dead battery? Crack the override screw to release load pressure and gravity-drop the bed safely.
- Blown fuse or failed solenoid coil? Same — override gets you out of a jam.
- Battery conservation in the field? Some operators use gravity-down via override to save battery draw on the down cycle.
⚠️ Important Application Note
Per KTI documentation, this valve is designed for Power Up / Power Down kit systems — it will NOT work on Power Up / Gravity Down pumps. If you're not sure which system you have, call us at 517-225-1991 and we'll identify it from your pump's model number or nameplate before you order.

💡 Pro Tips — Installation & Use
- Check your pump type first. Manual override version only works on Power Up / Power Down. If you have a gravity-down pump, order the standard LSPC-080-4-00 (or the correct gravity-down equivalent).
- Inspect cavity for contamination before installing. Burrs or metal shavings in the manifold are the #1 cause of repeat valve failure.
- Lubricate all O-rings with clean hydraulic fluid before seating the cartridge. A dry O-ring will shear on install.
- Final torque: 18 ft-lb with a 15/16" deep socket. Do not exceed.
- Mark the override screw position. After install, note the "closed/normal" position of the override — customers often forget and leave it partially open, causing constant bed drift.
- Operating the override: Only turn it in an emergency. Small counterclockwise rotation relieves pressure — crack it slowly under load. Close it fully when the bed is down.
❓ FAQ
Why is this worth the upgrade over the standard valve?
Because getting stranded with a loaded dump bed up is a workday-killer. Dead batteries happen. Failed solenoids happen. A working manual override turns a tow-truck call into a 30-second screw turn.
Can I use the manual override as a regular operation method?
Technically yes — some operators use it to gravity-down the bed to save battery. But it's designed as an emergency tool, not a primary control.
Is the solenoid still functional?
Yes, completely. The valve operates identically to the standard LSPC under normal electrical control. The override is a separate mechanical path.
Does this fit power-up / gravity-down pumps?
No. This cartridge is specifically for power-up / power-down (double-acting) systems. Call 517-225-1991 if you're unsure which you have.
